Septic System

Before making your request, please note :

  • applications are analyzed in order of receipt; 
  • the analysis of the application, as well as the countdown to the 60 business day deadline, begins only when the submitted application is declared valid and complete by the municipal officer and has been paid; 
  • an application received without the required documents and/or information will be declared incomplete and refused;
  • if the septic system has a flow rate of 3,240 liters or more per day, an application for a certificate of authorization from the Ministère de l'Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs is required.

What you need to know before obtaining this permit

Septic Tank Replacement

  • The cost of the permit is $110
  • A $325 compliance bond is also required

Replacement of complete system

  • Permit fee: $110
  • A $540 compliance bond is also required

New system 

  • Cost of permit is $275
  • A $540 compliance bond is also required
  • Work must begin within six (6) months of issuance of building permit.
  • If natural environments are present, a professional firm must survey them and identify the delimitation of the natural high-water line on the site. This, in turn, will be surveyed by the land surveyor and recorded on the site plan.

If the septic system has a flow rate of 3,240 liters or more per day, an application for a certificate of authorization from the Ministère de l'Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs is required.

  • Power of attorney by owner (if applicant is not the owner)
  • Geotechnical study (if in zone of mass movement)
