Please note:

  • Requests are analyzed on a first-come, first-served basis; 
  • Please allow 10 working days for a response; 
  • A delay of up to 60 days is required to obtain your permit;
  • That the analysis of the application, as well as the 60-day delay, begins only when the application submitted is declared valid and complete by the municipal officer;
  • That an application received without the necessary documents and/or information will be declared incomplete and refused.

What you need to know before obtaining this permit

  • The cost of the permit is $325. Renewal fees are set at 50% of the initial cost;
  • A $540 compliance bond is also required. This bond is not required for a connection permit for new construction;
  • Work must begin within six (6) months of issuance of the construction permit;
  • If natural environments are present, a professional firm must survey them and then identify the delimitation of the natural high-water line on the site. This, in turn, will be surveyed by the land surveyor and recorded on the site plan; 
  • In serviced areas, it will be necessary to demonstrate that the number of use units does not exceed that assigned to the said building or property at the time of design of the utilities and subsequent extensions.

Documents to be provided may vary depending on the type of renovation.

  • Site plan to scale showing : 
    • location of buildings, well, septic system and parking lot 
    • pipe routing 
    • manholes (if required)
    • pipe diameters, lengths and sections where there is a change of direction (indicate maximum joint angle). 
    • pipe level at each change of direction 
    • stormwater and groundwater drainage system 
  • A section to scale showing : 
    • pipe layout 
    • pipe lengths and cross-sections, where applicable 
    • the lowest floor level of the building in relation to the level of the center of the street 
    • first floor level in relation to the center line of the street 
    • the level of pipes at the property line in relation to the level of the center of the street 
    • the level of the building exit in relation to the level of the center of the street. 
    • details of materials used above and below pipes (thickness, type of material). 
    • type of pipe used (type, diameter) 
  • Geotechnical study (if required)
  • A scale drawing of the plumbing system (public, commercial and industrial buildings).
