Lifting of request to reduce drinking water consumption

  • Municipal System

August 30, 2024, update: Lifting of request to reduce drinking water consumption

The Municipality of Chelsea's Public Works, Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility Department wishes to inform the public that the request to reduce drinking water consumption for residents served by the municipal water supply system has now been lifted.

The situation has been restored and water can be used for daily needs, without restriction. The notice had been issued on August 14, 2024, due to heavy rainfall, which necessitated maintenance work at the filtration plant.

This measure was necessary to ensure a stable and constant supply of drinking water while allowing the basins to be refilled.

We would like to thank residents for their usual cooperation.

Initial message of August 14, 2024:

Due to the recent torrential rains, our team must undertake maintenance work at the filtration plant. This work is necessary to ensure the quality and safety of the water supply.

Until August 31, the Municipality asks residents served by the water system to reduce their water consumption as much as possible to facilitate these operations.

Here are some tips to reduce water consumption:

  • Reduce the use of your household appliances (dishwasher, washing machine).
  • Limit the duration of your showers.
  • Avoid watering lawns or washing cars.
  • Turn off the taps when not in use.

Maintaining water pressure during maintenance work at the filtration plant is crucial to preventing system contamination. Constant pressure prevents impurities or microorganisms from seeping into the drinking water pipes, thereby preventing a notice to boil water for people served by the network.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Your help is essential for us to complete this work as quickly as possible.
